Big Spring Country Club, Louisville Ky

I have a chance to play this course in a couple of weeks and just wondered if anyone here on the board has had a chance to play it. It looks to have been designed in 1926 and just doctored up Rees Jones. Searched google for some pics and no luck. So if anyone can help me out with some information it would be great.

Never played that one but if you get the chance,  play Lexington Country Club.  LCC was my biggest surprise of the year.  Fantastic layout and conditioning.  Original design is credited to Bendelow with a Pete Dye revision in the 70's.  This is a seriously good course in a great setting.  Play it.

I have not played it since the redo but have heard many good things about it.  Before it was a really good course with the exception of location, airport on one side, major interstate on the other, it gets kind of noisy at times.  Let me know if you have any other questions during your stay

Having grown up in Louisville, I had the opportunity to play Big Springs many times.  And yes, I have played it since the redo.  IMHO, Rees screwed up 2 good holes in lieu of creating 2 other good holes for a push.  He shortened #6, was a medium iron par 3 to a short iron par 3 and lengthened #7 to a good par 4 from an easy par 4.  He did a similar thing with #12 and #13. #12 was a good strategic  par 4, which now is a nothing par 4, but made #13 which was a nothing par 4 into a very good par 4 by lengthening it. For  whatever they paid, I use to know the number, I would have expected a lot more.
