Some more.

----------
The 1st and 2nd, from Ben's Porch. It's difficult to capture in a picture the verticality of the dunes behind the 1st green.
The 2nd fairway is high above the big hills flanking the 1st green.

----------
The 11th, from Ben's Porch through a strong lens.

----------
The 16th hole, the ocean bunker which must be carried from the tee. Thomas Huck is wonder-struck.

----------
The 16th, about 150 yards to the green. George knocked it close (to the green.)

Pat,

I think we have some pictures of your twin in some of the bunkers. I'll try to find them.

The 14th (right) and 15th (left). Should this be a double fairway ?

Actually Gene, I noticed the above depth chart that the ex-Wisconsin - Barry Alvarez trained coaching staff ;) is displaying for the Huskers.  You might just get away with it.  You can claim you are under 25 and that small issue of having already been to Creighton can be overlooked since they don't even have a football team.  Did you have a UN coaches day member guest or something? ;D ::) 8)
No actual golf rounds were ruined or delayed, nor golf rules broken, in the taking of any photographs that may be displayed by the above forum user.

RJ - I think Mr. Greco has moved up on that chart since the Spring Game. That has to be depth chart from out last game of 2004.  ;D

Perhaps we shall see him on the field come the Maine game on Sept. 3.

I have to ask the question of the GCA Treehouse at large...

"Was there anything going on this week that created more anticipation that seeing Neil Regan's name next to the
'Sand Hills Pics - June 05' thread and knowing that new
pictures were being posted?"

Other than seeing my wife and daughter after a business trip,
I know the answer for me was "no".

And I think more than any picture I've seen so far, I would have
paid a few bucks to get to walk in the foursome with Mr.Huntley
and Christian Greco and listen to that conversation.  I'm now
looking forward to the pictures of Christian's first coat & tie visit
to the R&A clubhouse.

Picture perfect not only defines the SH experience but also the balance and form of Mr. Huntley.  Nicely done.

George nearly eagles the 8th from the bunker.

---------

Golden sunset on the 6th. Gene requested the blind pin position, then knocked it stiff for a finishing birdie as we hurried up to the porch to catch the light.

Hey BobH:

Look at post #67. Whatever concerns you had about your swing I think have been totally fixed.  ;)

Tom,

Maybe Cameron ended up marrying Dominique.  That would be great.  During my all too brief time at Sand Hills they both came across as wonderful people.

By the way, did any of you guys have moth problems in the cabins?  I had to kill about 100 of the little buggers before I could finally go to sleep.  After 36-holes, a big Nebraska steak and a bottle or two of red wine, I was almost too tuckered out to be battling those critters at midnight.  But I couldn't sleep with them fluttering around so much.

Wayne:

Yep, we sure did have some bugs in our cabin. Ran was my room-mate and it was so overwhelming he was practically speechless (and as we all know that's quite rare).

But it's no reflection on the cabins or on Sand Hills, it was my fault. If you sit outside on the porch of one of those cabins smoking a cigarrette or two while that sartorially splendiferous Ran Morrissett showers and primps and preens inside the cabin with all the lights on and then I forget to shut the screen door and turn out the lights as we both walk up to the clubhouse at night for around five hours of drinks, dinner and more drinks I guess one can expect most of the bugs and critters in the western half of Nebraska to be spending the night with you.

They're not bad little fellows though. I talked to most of the half million or so of them that spent about three nights with us. It wasn't easy as they tend to all talk at the same time. They told me I taught them a lot about the finer points of golf course architecture but the gist from them was they really like intelligent Easterners like me and that it can get real lonely out there on the prarie sometimes.

You had a roommate?   Ran wasn't aware of your snoring!  Good God man, you didn't warn him?  I hope he drove 100 miles to the nearest drugstore and got some ear plugs so he could get a sound night's sleep.  Truth is, I'd take a room full of bugs than one with you snoring and me without earplugs  ;)

I told him the snoring might be a problem but apparently it wasn't. Actually he got so drunk every night I had to practically carry him back to the cabin every time. He told me he had to do that because of my snoring but I don't believe that for a second.

The truth is (and I'm serious) he did say he heard me snoring but curiously he sort of got into the rhythm of it and it really didn't bother him. He really said that! Can you believe that guy?

This kind of thing is probably why Ran is so good at golf course architecture---eg he notices patterns in things that no one else notices. I think this is why he picked up of the fact that the 14th and 15th fairways should have a  melded section.

Before we left he said he was going to call Bill Coore for a bit of an addendum interview for the Sand Hills course review. He asked me if his first question to Coore should be;

"Bill, do you realize you completely ruined a world class golf course by failing to recognize that the 14th and 15th fairways should have a melded section?"

Of course, I told him to go for it.

Maybe that rhythm helped him with his swing too.

If you were carrying Ran back to his room, who was carrying you?  Must have been Sweeney or Mucci, they're the only ones big enough to carry both of you.
