Both BHP courses have been sold by the developer, Roger Hansen. The original West course was sold to RDS and  will remain open. The newer East course was sold to Hovnanian for housing and will probably be reduced to 9 holes after this year.

There're so many people on this website who seem able to come up with statistics, it'd be interesting to know if Steve Smyers's Blue Heron Pines East is the fastest course to go NLE in the Modern Age.

It sort of reminds me of that ultra touching epitaph on the gravestone of a little child;

"I was so quickly done for
I wonder what I was begun for"

I can't remember the name of the course, but one of Tom Fazio's newer courses in Phoenix was originally designed and built by Greg Norman.  Fazio's biggest client (Discovery Land Corp.) purchased the property, decided Norman's course was too hard, and hired Fazio to plow it up and redesign it before it ever opened!

I think that's the record.

Mirabel is correct. Discovery Land Company (developer of Estancia and other clubs) purchased Norman's Stonehaven as it was about to open. Stonehaven was a high-end daily fee course and was deemed "too difficult" by the new owners for a high-end private course. The course was bulldozed but the original routing may have been used by Fazio.
