PGA Tour Radio on XM Radio
« on: June 15, 2005, 11:30:55 AM »
For those of you that care about such things, XM Radio now has a dedicated 24 hr golf channel, XM 146.  While I can't help but think that most of the material will be heavily recycled, I can tell you that they are currently having a discussion of maintenance meld at Pinehurst and some of the architectural aspects of the fairway width, chipping areas, etc.

My ears are not tuned to such things, but I think I may be hearing the voice of Peter Kessler, who I know many of this site miss from the Golf Channel.

For what it's worth...

Luckily, my new vehicle came with XM standard. I just heard the show on channel 146. It is indeed Peter Kessler.
He hosted the show from Pinehurst. It was so good to hear a knowledgable person talk golf. He is sadly missed on TGC. I can not understand why he's not with a major network.

Peter:

You are right it is Peter Kessler.  I too recently discovered this.

He hosts a one hour show M-F that starts at 8AM ET.  They replay the show after that from 9AM - Noon ET.

I haven't listened yet but apparently they provide live coverage of the tournaments TH - SU.

It's pretty cool on the weekends, but it can get a little repetative at times.   If you have XM, it's definitely worth setting a preset to 146.

Sorry, no can do on the XM.  My presets are set for the 24 hour bowling and chess channels.

But here's a suggestion.....

Forget about golf for about five minutes and put on some Almann Brothers or Aaron Copeland!

Tommy,

Wouldn't it be great to play "Fanfare for the Common Man" as you walked to the first tee?  It would suit you, me thinks. ;)

Cheers!

I flipped to channel 146 tonight on the way home, but it was just repeating a message something to the effect of being off the air until tomorrow.  Anyone know the actual broadcast times?

Just was listening on the way to work this AM, and they said that Pinehurst has verti-cut the rough at #2 to remove thatch and ensure the ball falls to the bottom of the grass.

Pretty darn good info.

I forgot how good Peter Kessler was...
