Father's Day is a happy coincidence, with lots of feel-good potential.

So USGA was doing third week in June prior to 1972?

If so, I have to give all the credit to Nixon, and declare him our all-time greatest President.

The Fixed List:

06 - Winged Foot
07 - Oakmont
08 - Torrey Pines
09 - Bethpage Black
10 - Pebble
11 - Congressional
12 - Olympic

My fearless predictions:

13 - The Country Club (I agree with you Jim Sweeney)
14 - Merion
15 - Shinnecock Hills
16 - Oakland Hills (The wildcard in the mix)
17 - Oak Hill
18 - Oakmont
19 - Winged Foot
20 - Pinehurst #2
21 - Butler National
22 - Bethpage
23 - Pebble Beach

Let's see how it turns out.

Is this just too freaking nutz to ponder...?

A future open rotating two courses over the 72 holes.  First round and 3rd round at Shinnythingy.  Second round and final at Sebonack.  Practice facilities and corporate villages gently and carefully placed on National. ;D 8)

At the end of the event, spend whatever it takes to bring all three (particulary any damage to National) back to pristine desired conditions.
No actual golf rounds were ruined or delayed, nor golf rules broken, in the taking of any photographs that may be displayed by the above forum user.

At Bethpage the USGA experimented with later starting times and almost got caught. Fay stated that they wouldn't do that anymore.

Not a bad list, but the Open is not going to be in the East and Midwest for 11 years-- Every other year(or at least every third year) its going to come west (at least west of the Miss)-- Don't be shocked if Torrey is a sucess in "08 that it becomes part of the West Coast rota-- The USGA wants a course in SoCal (LA/SD) that will be on the schedule every 8 years or so==

And Pebble is a slam for 2020 (every 10 years) unless the course slips into the Pacific Ocean.
