A Par Five Fave (pics)

Poor photography and cheap camera aside, I really like this par five:

Reverse cant of the fairway.  Bunker at the corner, barely visible in the shade, must be dealt with to reach the green in two for big hitters.

The second shot:  The two left-hand bunkers are greenside, with the two right hand bunkers some 60 yards from the front edge.

The reward for carrying the right hand bunkers on the second shot is this straight-foward pitch, or better yet a slinging hook that runs onto the green.

The more timid player will play left of the fairway bunkers, leaving this difficult uphill semi-blind pitch for his third shot (torrential rains responsible for bunker condition).

From behind the green you see the high bank that feeds the big second shot to the rear pin position.

The best hole on a very good golf course by a former touring professional who knows what a redan is.

Does the visual of the approach remind anyone of a par 5 that will be seen on TV in a couple of weeks?

A few more to given the insatiable interest in this thread ::)

A true fairway bunker on this sharp dogleg left.  Snuggle up to the bunker for two less clubs into the green.  Go left of it for a three club swing.

Solid one-shotter 200 yards downhill over spectacle bunkers some forty yards short of the green.

From behind the green with the downslope beyond the spectacles in the background.

The 'true fairway bunker' you highlight seems like such a simple touch, yet can dramatically add to the interest/thought/strategy of a hole. I wonder why it isn't used more?

Hillbilly Mike,

Thanks for the pics and description.  I wish there were more interest in these kinds of threads...I think they are great.

What is the length of the hole (is it reachable)?  It seems that us mere mortals need to hit 2 different shaped shots to reach the green in two - a cool feature.

Your first pic in the second post looks perfect for a Buczkowski fade... ;)  Although it doesn't seem like much risk going at the bunker - are these deep bunkers?
