What with the length of the ball, and global warming reducing the windiness, and all, is there any links course in the british isles that can provide an adequate test for today's pros?

Maybe they can still hold it if they stick to either Carnoustie, and the upcoming UK Ryder cup sites, or perhaps the R&A should look carefully at courses designed by Americans in the UK.  I think Celtic Manor has plenty of room to grow to 8,000 yards.

John, with all due respect... are you serious? :o :-\
No actual golf rounds were ruined or delayed, nor golf rules broken, in the taking of any photographs that may be displayed by the above forum user.

The courses play the same for everyone (except weather variations.)

Par is not entered.

I am checking if this is April 1st...or something along those lines..because I am sure the initial post was not meant as a serious question

If it is serious...

Remember that Royal Lytham was 6700 yards in 2001 and the winning score was -10, without difficult conditions...

It was supposed to be ironic.  I couldn't imagine anyone taking seriously a suggestion of putting Celtic Manor in the rota..

The Open is the best tournament of the year, imho.  I've got a bit of faith in the R&A to manage the set up.
