Thanks, Cory, for the Beechtree outing

Thanks for the awesome outing today at Beechtree.  The greens were fast, the fairways were firm, and the golf was fabulous.  It was a lot of fun playing Beechtree firm and fast - first  time I've ever done so.  Unfortunately, the Mid-Atlantic has had 4 or 5 very rainy summers, and it was a real treat today to play the course as it was meant to be played.

I really like Beechtree, and it gives a good sense of Doak's ability to create really super green complexes.  

Cory had some of the holes cut right on top of ridges, which led to some very interesting second (or third) putts.

Thanks again Cory for setting up a super fun day.  I enjoyed playing with Rob Waldron and his father who can really hit the ball for an odler guy!

I had fairly high expectations for beechtree and i can say without a doubt those expectations were exceeded.  The course was super firm and fast and the green complexes were awesome.

So many of the greens ran away from you and its really not something you see every day.  Anyone who hasn't played beechtree should really try and get there, its very underrated in my opinion.

Amen to your 'underrated' comment.  Laura and I were talking on the way home as we passed the (Pete Dye) Bulle Rock exit on I-95 - trying to decide which course we prefer.

Our answer was the same -  Beechtree.   Not that Bulle Rock isn't good -it certainly is, but we just prefer Beechtree - The architecture, the conditioning, the staff, and the price.

If you're looking for some super golf between Philly and Baltimore, be sure to try Beechtree!

Thanks, Cory.  That was quite a day.  The weather was perfect.  The golf course was firm and fast making decision making high up on the order of things.  I can't recall being over so many greens in one round, but that's because I'm a bit thick-headed.  The greens were wonderful in their maintenance and their design.  I couldn't believe how many wrong spots I found when I found the green.  My friend, Jeff Brown, enjoyed meeting the GCAers present and I enjoyed seeing these friends again.  We played with Craig Disher and his friend Peter Mallalieu from Littlestone GC in Kent, England.  

I borrowed my son's driver as my driver and I aren't on speaking terms.  Glad I did!  It was fun seeing the balls bouncing and rolling wondering what sort of luck you'd get.  A fun course requiring thought and execution.

Beechtree is about halfway between my friend's house in VA and my home in suburban Philadelphia.  I hope to meet him there in the future.  Again, Cory, thank you for hosting us.  What a nice golf course--all the facilities and the entire staff are first rate!

I would like to echo everyone's sentiments.  It was a postcard day on a great golf course.  It is in my opinion, one of the best public courses i have played.  It is the clear #1 for me in the mid-Atlantic.  Thanks again to Cory for his generosity in setting everything up!

Thank you for making the arrangements at Beechtree yesterday. We were all treated to a beautiful day of golf on a wonderful course. The experienced was inhanced by the rare opportunity to play a course that was in firm and fast condition. The golf course continues to mature very gracefully.

BTW: I believe the guy who set the cups must have had a bad night Saturday night!

 Sorry I missed it, but I was able to win 8 holes on the front nine in my GAP match--certainly my personal record. BTW I won 2 on the back.(Got bored )

I add my thanks.  The course, hospitality, and weather were great.  My playing partners, the Hermanns were fine company.  Laura displayed a solid driving, putting, and all-around game that she magnanamously attributed to the tutelage of Dan.

I'll echo the praise above.  Like I told you during the round, I think Beechtree is a really solid golf course.  Excellent green complexes,  angles provided by width off the tee (thankfully ), and conditions were perfect.  Nice facility and well-managed staff, too.

Dan Taylor:  No need for patience.  You get the ball around really well.  We'll have to do it again sometime.
