Noel indicated that he and Paul will be abroad that day, no doubt finding and photographing more hidden gems and sharing them with the rest of us.

Bastards.  This does sound like one hell of a great event, and the re-emergence of Dr. Childs just cements it as a must for anyone who has a reality in which such things are possible.

Unfortunately that does not include me.  Oh would that I could jet across the country for such things, like Tommy.

Oh well....

I am envious.

Tommy:  I'm glad that makes it doable for you - enjoy the TV's!  But if cost were the only issue I would surely be there.  You of all people know this, having missed other events earlier this month.

We all have lives. At least I hope so.

Hmmm...Isn't Clorox having a mandatory seminar to discuss strategic imperatives for the Marketing group at some secret location in the Pine Barrens of south Jersey on that day?

I could have sworn I saw that memo... ;D

That's what it would take to get me there.  And even then I'd leave a pissed-off family.  Sunday May 15 just happens to be my wife's birthday, and my son just happens to have a baseball game on Monday May 16.

Of course in Pat Mucci's world, this means I don't have the requisite dedication to the study of architecture, but methinks I can live with that judgment.

Patrick:

That is understood.

But riddle me this:  what if I hadn't posted those personal details, and just said I couldn't afford it (which is also true given other golf trips on tap), or that it's relatively low priority for me (also given other golf trips on tap, and realities of life)?  What then would have been your response?

No saint, not even the holy mother herself, namesake of your alma mater, would have helped spare me your wrath.

Tom Huckaby,

That's not true.
If you couldn't afford it, it would be wrong for me to tell you how to spend your money, especially on a hobby, versus personal or family needs.

But, if you could afford it and it posed no personal, business or family conflicts, and you elected not to come, but told me how I should run the event, you might be on the receiving end of some brusque advice.

Aha. Understood. Not being an attendee up AND telling you how to run it earns one your wrath.  Well I have seen that already.

 ;D

It's gonna be a great day for sure.  I just wished I lived nearer to make it a reality.  But then again, that would mean I'd have to live in the god-forsaken east coast.  No thanks.

 ;D ;D ;D

Hmmm... I am trying so damn hard to earn your wrath... this ought to do it... or at least earn a witty response.

Sorry I can't attend Hidden Creek. Looks like a fine event. I'm traveling that week, but if anyone is lingering around in town, I'll be at Galloway National on Tuesday morning, May 17, 8:30 a.m., at a meeting of the New Jersey Golf Course Superintendents Association, to do a 45-minute PowerPoint presentation on "Maintenance and the Media."

Just as for the earlier event this year, I'll be in Europe...cursed with unlucky timing.

But NAFFER and I will come back with some cool pics of some lesser known Euro courses.  And we'll ironically be playing some 1920/30s heathland courses while you guys will be sampling that fine, modern, heathland interpretation.

The plans for the 3rd annual architectural get together have been finalized.        The program is as follows:

 7:45 -  8:00 am  Check In

 8:00 -  8:45 Breakfast

9:00 -  9:45 Roger Hansen - The concept, construction and
                                        completion of Hidden Creek

 9:45 - 10:00 Break

10:00 - 10:45 Bill Coore - The choice, the land, the
design and building of Hidden Creek

10:45 - 11:00 Break

11:00 - 11:45 Jeff Riggs - The construction and maintainance
                                    of Hidden Creek

11:45 - 12:45 Lunch

 1:00 -  5:30 - Golf

 5:30 -  6:30 - Cocktails & Hors D Oeuvres

The Breakfast, Lunch and Hors D Oeuvres menu is terrific, as are our three speakers.

Roger Hansen
is the creator and guiding force behind Hidden Creek.
Bill Coore
needs no introduction and is one of America's premier architects.
Jeff Riggs
is the talented Superintendent who keeps Hidden Creek playing as it was designed and intended.

While each of the three gentlemen will make a brief presentation, the real value in these get togethers is being able to ask questions of the people actually involved in the creation, design, construction and maintainance of a world golf course.  Hence, we encourage your participation.

The very first time I played Hidden Creek, if it hadn't been for darkness, I would have walked from the 18th green directly to the first tee, to do it all over again, it was that much fun.
When a golf course challenges you, thrills you, is fun and leaves you wanting to tee it up all over again, THAT's a golf course worthy of respect and a National ranking by any standard.

Hidden Creek is a treat.

The cost for the event is as follows

Symposium only                  $ 115.00
Symposium and Golf             $ 195.00 (includes cart)

Golf will be limited to approximatelly 48 golfers.

As part of the architectural get together, I'll be assigning each foursome to a specified hole, probably their starting hole.  At the cocktail hour I'd like each foursome to give a brief summary of the features they encounted and their thoughts on the architecture and playability of that specific hole.

In addition to creating a wonderful golf course, Roger Hansen has created a wonderful atmosphere.  Although I've yet to see the new clubhouse, which opened up just a few short weeks ago, I've heard it's terrific.  Equally, or more important is the efficient and courteous staff that Roger has assembled to serve the needs of members and guests alike.

Special thanks for assisting with the planning of this event go to Jennifer Hansen, the General Manager, Kari Konrad, John Manzione and Ian Dalzell, the Head Professional and his staff.

Some have inquired about dinner.
If we stay for dinner, dinner and beverages will be the club's standard menu that night.  Dinner may be paid for by credit or cash.  Charging to one's home club is not an option.

Checks for the event, for either $ 115.00 or $ 195.00 should be made payable to Hidden Creek and should be sent ASAP to:

Jennifer Hansen
The Hidden Creek Club
75 Asbury Road
Egg Harbor Township, N.J.  ( zip code to be supplied later)

Due to the short time between today, May 1st and the event on May 16th, please forward your checks to the club as soon as possible.

Please note on your check "May 16 HCAGT", so that the club can identify you as an attendee, and post receipt.

Directions to the club are posted on the Hidden Creek website:   http//www.hiddencreekclub.com

Also on the website is Ran's review of Hidden Creek and a brief bio on Roger Hansen.

We've prepared a great panel, a great menu, a great venue and a great day for interested GCA.com'ers.

Again, please forward your check ASAP as time and attendance are limited.

If you have any questions please contact me at   pmuccijr@optonline.net

Thanks

P.S. As a reminder, no cell phones.
The dress code is common sense, but shirts must be
collared, tucked in, caps with the bill forward, no jeans.
      You know the drill.

I look forward to meeting everyone.
