Westover CC (G. Fazio) in Jeffersonville, PA - NLE?

An early George Fazio design, this course is in jeopardy of becoming NLE as a developer has plans for a multi use sports complex. Looks like a long zoning battle to me so the lawyers will do well. See comments- NIMBY strikes again.

I played it once since they reworked the holes on the far side of the road.  I wasnt a big fan of what they did there at all. 

Some of the original stuff out there is pretty good.  If it indeed goes under for construction of a sports complex, that would be a sizable loss to Norristown area public golf.  Jeffersonville will be getting crowded!

The new proposal for the land actually sounds like a great recreation plan - if you are the township or County and the area recreation is in short supply. 

Ruuning facilities like tennis courts, soccer fields etc in a for-profit business can very very difficult financially.  IMHO.

The first couple of times I saw that facility (just from I-10) I figured it was a truck stop. I was quite surprised to drive by on the road and find it is a rec center.

Beautiful building, but hard to imagine fully recouping the costs.

Interesting. I'll have to get out there soon. Westover is right down the road from Jeffersonville, which I have played several times. Is the course relatively untouched, or has it been fiddled with over the years?

Many holes are untouched and pretty good.


The beginning of the back nine has been severely compromised by some housing.

Mike,
Don't shoot the messenger.  This is a historic course. T. Fazio got his start there helping Uncle George build the course during his teenage years. Why don't you play it before it gets bulldozed and report back.
