So far we have 2 photos which show Raynor's ideas that ended up in Mac's design: the 16th hole and 18th tee. Any other pre-1926 photos are really the best evidence in determining how much was held over.

Great question Alex.


Thought this was pretty telling, "It describes generally that "part of the first nine runs along the white sand dunes", and "other holes are built into the wooded glens". It then goes on to say "but of course the most spectacular holes are those along the oceanfront".

The 18th tee out on the rocks made it to AM's design but was never built, but the photo does suggest that the Raynor 18th was in approximately the same location.  

As for the 16th hole, according to AM it was Hollins' idea.  
Golf history can be quite interesting if you just let your favorite legends go and allow the truth to take you where it will.
