Archival searches.........
« on: March 21, 2005, 02:51:19 PM »
From time to time I read a thread and am interested enough to want to find out about the author.

I go to the search feature and plonk in "Who are you guys" and come up with a host of stuff that would take a month of Sundays to decipher.

I'm interested in discovering something on Jeff Warne. Obviously he is a great swing theorist, as am I, but I need to know that he is indeed a player, unlike me.

It would be great if the "who are you guys" thread could be archived in alpha order. I bet others would like to see that too :)

Live Jupiter, Fl, was  4 handicap, played top 100 US, top 75 World. Great memories, no longer play, 4 back surgeries. I don't miss a lot of things about golf, life is simpler with out it. I miss my 60 degree wedge shots, don't miss nasty weather, icing, back spasms. Last course I played was Augusta

My sentiments exactly..I love what he has to say mechanically..he sounds like the kind of guy I could spend hours theorising with...Bob..I was not aware that you were a mechanics junkie as well....and Chelsea fan...something does not gel there ;)

Couple of options:

1) Send the guy an IM.  In Jeff's case, he's a very good guy and I'm sure he'd respond.  He's a Club Professional, in a cold weather place, so he might have some free time now.  The one time I played with him, you could tell by his setup and mechanics that he was a good player and understood the swing.  You could also tell that he was a hard-working Pro because he was slightly off his game in some of the areas that require alot of practice time.

2) If you want to read other stuff they posted, click on their name and it will bring up a Profile page.  At the bottom, it says "see xx post".  Click on either 50 or ALL, and see what else they wrote on the board.

3) IMO, the search features on GCA.com are pretty weak.  But, you could try "search" (top of page) and go to the Advanced section and put a few keywords in there.  I've found this to be very hit & miss at finding stuff.

I wish the Profile had a biography section on it so that we wouldn't need the Who Are You Guys thread at all.

As I posted once before, do not do this with Paul Turner's post history!  Many MB of high quality photo's will swamp your computer!

Okay Ran..I think nearly everybody thinks this would be a good idea..perhaps with a member password so that "outsiders" could not gain access to the personal stuff

The easiest thing to do is ask Scott Burroughs. He knows more about any of us then we know about ourselves. ;D

He'll have all the relevant info on the guy, e.g. credit score, blood type, etc.  :D ;D
