John-  You guys win one SEC Championship and it goes to your head...I guess in UGA terms you guys have a dynasty now!HA Just kidding.  What about a gathering at your Windemere as well as Cateechee!  Whats Valdosta's schedule for opening? Is the name still Kinderloo(sp)?  Talk to you guys later.

Count me in on the Greenville/Spartanburg squad!   You weren't smelling intimidation, some of us were just busy working or whatever to be able to reply (my excuse was 18 holes at True Blue, by the way it is a bad sign when the temperature is close to your front nine score and you arent playing that bad, but I digress)

That sounds like a great gathering to get together.  Can we get some bio information on everyone around this area.  Kind of a mini version of the "Who are you guys" thread.  Like Mike mentioned I think I have ADD also and have a tough time remembering everyone that I saw on those old threads.

I will start:

By the way this sounds like a pretty extensive clubhouse, dorms, conference center, etc. at Cateechee?  What is the deal with that are they going private or what is the motovation for all that?  I love the course, but they just kind of seemed like a fairly low-key public course when I was out there early on.  Are they going after some different demographics and market now?

By the way something else I have been thinking about.  I tend to stay on top of golf courses around my area, but am I the only one that gets confused with some of the indian named courses around this area that are way too similar for my needs.  I wonder if I can get confused sometimes and I pay attention to these things how the average Joe golfer whom I have often found to have the attention span or memory of a 6 yr old remembers them.

In our area (my apologies on spellings as I am doing this from memory and since as I mentioned above I get confused I may spell them slightly incorrect):
Cateechee GC (Hartwell, GA)
Chestatee GC (north of Atl on 400 I think)
Currahee GC (new Jim Fazio course opening now I think is a Hartwell address also maybe)

The just to help keep things confusing throw in those recent additions to the SC coastal region:
Chechessee Creek GC (Coore & Crenshaw near Hilton Head)
Cassique GC (Tom Watson on Kiawah Island)

Keeps em guessing.

Am I right that the new Capital City course is hosting a World Golf Championship this year?  I heard that it was nice but my source is a member there for social reasons not for golf.

I have no idea about my schedule, but I would be really interested in hopping in on the GA side.

RCS:

Things are on schedule for Kinderlou Forest to open late this summer or early in the fall.  If you are heading back towards Americus, you ought to schedule some time to swing through the project.  I think you may be surprised and excited by what you see.  Thanks for asking and for plugging Windermere.

Good luck with your new job.  It should be great experience for your future in the business.  Keep us updated.

Please see a new thread I started called Peach/Palmetto Cup.

Let's respond there with your thoughts about timing, programs, etc.

Thanks, Bob

Just wanted to move this thread back to the top. It seems to have died after Bob started the Palmetto/Peach Cup topic (Yes, I put Palmetto first).

If you want to play in the first annual Palmetto/Peach Cup Classic please indicate your interest on that Topic page. We had a lot of excitement going for a couple of days... let's not let this slide into a black hole.

Get over there and sign up!

Suprised that no one has mentioned The Standard Club- by far the best Art Hills course I have played.

Boo -

I agree with you about the Standard Club. It is one of the most underrated courses in the Atlanta area. Don't know why that is. They have held a number of USGA, PGA, LPGA and  Senior PGA qualifiers there and still no body talks much about the course.
