Announcing the first annual Peach/Palmetto Cup.
I will try to schedule a Saturday round at Cateechee on March 29, with drinks and dinner afterwards. Mike Young has volunteered to do a talk on the course, enviro issues, designing for clay v. sand terrain, etc. Others with projects, restorations, etc. that are afoot in the region are also invited to present. Let me know if we should reserve some time for you or your project.
For those that want to stay over, an optional Sunday round (March 30) can be arranged.
March 29/30 is the weekend before the Masters. With that event on the horizon, one of the presentations on Saturday night will focus on dealing with picket lines, tear gas and bail bondsmen. Direct dial numbers for attorneys in Augusta will be handed out.
Other dates are certainly possible, but let's start with March 29/30 and see how workable it is for the group. Let me know.
If those dates seem to work for people, I will get back with everyone on costs, specific tee times, etc.
On the Matt Ward model (remember, he's from New Jersey), you will have to get train ridin' cash in my hands at the appropriate time to reserve a place. No walk-up entries. More later.
Others outside of GA and SC are welcome to come and I hope they will. (Ran, John Stiles, Doug Stein, Turbo, how about it?) Cateechee can handle lots of people, the golf will be first rate and the setting should be beautiful.
Most important, it will be a chance to meet people in the region who have played, loved and hated many of the same courses over the years.
Let me know. Email me at rcrosby@phrd.com with your interest, availability, ideas, etc. I will report back to the goup as things develop.
Bob
P.S. Isn't a Palmetto just a big tropical weed?
