Wayne,

Remember that Tilly was designing courses at a time when the golf ball was just becoming barely standardized. Backspin was a thing of the future just as lawn mowers that could cut greens to billiard table thicknesses.

Wouldn't the 7th on TOC be considered offset?

Incidentally, does anyone know the origins of the crossover holes on TOC, 7 and 11? i.e. once the holes evolved to having 18 separate holes, the logical flow of the other holes 2-6 and 12-16 is to the right side going out and right side coming in. Are these and the 17th the true "designed" holes on TOC, and is it a coincidence that they are offset?
