Cars, Membership, Handicap and Personality
« on: January 31, 2005, 06:41:45 PM »
Is there any relationship between the car one drives, the home course one plays and one's handicap?

A mate of mine just bought an old Panzer that has seen better days.  I would argue that is game can be summed up this way.  He is much flattered by his cap!  However our club has never seen good days.  Somehow, his personality is born through.

I drive a Mondeo (not quite a desirable car).  My game is fatally flawed (lets hope the Mondeo's engineering isn't), but passable in some circles.  My club is cheap and cheerful.  Where does this leave my personality?  I am afraid of where this introspection will lead me.

Ciao

You may have something Sean. My Alfa and my handicap are both 12. Perhaps a newer car could get me down to single figures?
But it would get expensive buying a new car every year to stay at scratch. As for the likes of Tiger, he must drive some Buick prototype not  due on the market until 2012.

This thread also made me think of those acronyms for cars - you know, Fix It Again Tony, Big Money, Why? etc.
I started doing the same for golf courses but after Cruel And Rather Nondescript, Often U See Tantrums In Extremis and Penal Institution, Notoriously Elitist. Visionary Architectural  Layout  Looks English Yes? I thought I’d better quit while I was ahead.

Perfectly Angled Inland Natural Setting With Infernal Conjurer's Kinks

PS--outside of pros and "amateurs" who either major in Pronation at Golf Tech U. or "sell" insurance or some other fungible product (i.e. medicine, cars,....have I insulted enough people yet...?) to hero worshippers, I can't think of a really good golfer who drives anything but a banger........... :)

Sean,
So I guess my push iron, par 3 golf membership and ole forged irons dont give me much chance of  attracting that buxom blonde at the other end of the bar?

Jamie:

While you're contemplating the quesiton would you mind telling me if you think Dorothy really was the innocent little corn-feed Kansas girl they tried to crack her up to be? I always felt there was something about her that was vaguely sluttish!

OK Boys.
Stop this whole gay vibe here and now. One minute it's all 'personal grooming', the next it's a chuffing 'Friends of Dorothy' meeting.
You're scaring me.....

What was that wierd relationship Dorothy had with the tin man anyway?
She had to be smoking some Kansas style mushrooms to have that dream in the first place...or.....was it suppressed memories of parental abuse!!!

Don't stop me now---I really do want to see what Jamie thinks about Dorothy. You see he's a young guy and he may have various and different ways of looking at life and things like Dorothy than I do. I'm an old guy and Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz was around that time that I was into various "rights of passage" if you catch my drift. I haven't thought about her in decades and I probably need to check out the validity of various values and perceptions at that time I was stepping into puberty or whatever. If I secretly wanted to nail her for some reason I've not been aware of all these decades I should probably know it now---it's not too late yet!

This could be more productive for me than two dozen visits with Dr Katz!
