The start of the 2005 golf season

I love this picture, which I just found at a perhaps unexpected source. I've got to run so others will have to offer some hints to the course and event.

Great picture, Andy, and I don't have a clue where it is!

I am guessing the President's Putter at Rye.

It has to be Rye.  If so, this has answered all I need to know about why I want to play Rye.

Surprises me in that I can't remember being able to see the sea at Rye, but I was young and foolish then.......

I cannot either Rich and I was neither young nor foolish last year during the two rounds. But a great picture it is.

What book was the photo pulled from?  And, where is it available?  Thanks.

Thanks for the source.  I own the book and I didn't realize the photo was in it.   The version of this photo in copy is very different!  I would like to tell you the edition, but my copy was considerably cheaper because the page has been cut out!  My copy shows the same hole but a different player hitting from about the same spot.  The spectators are different as well.  The angle is slightly further left as well.  Most strange!  Perhaps I have some kind of reject sample copy not meant for sale.

This doesn't detour me from wanting to play the course!

On the bottom right of the picture posted, what is that wood wall about a foot high?  Did there used to be a bunker there?

160 yards par 3?   Is that fellow with caddy (on the far left of the photo) behind the green or was he short?

I have never played the course, but I am guessing this chap was a bit aggressive.  The flag looks to be blowing hard at him for his pitch.

He is behind the green.
There is also a front bunker which is to the roght of the picture. On couple of holes at Rye you have sleepers in the ground which prevents you hitting a bump and run. This is also the case at 14th.

I didn’t scan the picture from a book, just linked  to Bombsquadgolf, where it was posted unattributed by a competitor who said it was from the 2004 Putter.
The thread is  here (you may need to register to read it).
It does look similar to the Edgeworth picture but I’m not sure  it is from the same set. Flag appears to be a different colour.
