Has anybody played this course?  How old is it?  Who designed it?  Any info would be helpful.

Ciao

Donald Steel designed it. I think it opened 5-10 years ago. I've not played it but am curious. It seems to have slipped under the GCA radar.
Sorry, not much information but you did say any would be helpful.

Sean
Played it a couple of years ago. Not much to say about it really! My memories of it have faded partly because much of it is instantly forgettable.

Ridiculously sloped practice putting green. Loads of push-up greens bunkered left and right - Hohum!, very average routing with lots of 'parallelism'. One par 3 which basically plays to a roundabout in the middle of some BIG 'executive' houses.

Quite nice turf.

You'd be MUCH better off playing next door at Kilspindie.

I second that emotion:

I assume Craigelaw was literally next door?  Lots of nice stone fences over there, as I recall.

Martin,

This was Laurie Auchterlonie's favorite course. He always opined, "The keenest greens in Scotland."

Mike,
Those BIG houses top right in your third photo are the ones which surround the 10th (I think?) green at Craigielaw which I previously mentioned. So you can see it is literally next door (Some of those lovely old stone dykes are common to both courses).

Bob,
Mr Auchterlonie was right and certainly knew a thing or two. The course is a lovely, wee, typical Scots gem. I assume you've knocked it around there on one of your trips? Very understated welcoming clubhouse as I recall with damn good Bacon rolls too.
