Re: Perranporth

That is a Saint on the logo--I asked when I was there.. but with his cross at that angle, it looks like the grim reaper coming to collect!

Also it is a fish on the bottom, but on my logo it is a shark! i like it with the shark!

Either way, it sounds like a stripper!

Personally, I think the Medinah logo would be pretty damn cool if they dropped all the wording and the surrounds and just used the sword and the moon/star-thing.  That would look great on a shirt.

Absolute concurrence.  The more a logo has to be figured out and the lightbulb goes on when you get it, the more I like it also.  Medinah's would be world-class sans verbiage.

Welcome to Golf Club Advertising.Com. We're living La Vida Logo now.  I like any logo that adds an "e" on the end of a word, like Pointe, or uses the word "Experience" or has a preposition in it. "The Experience at the Pointe Club".  Images with at least three colors, more are better (don't worry about the price of reproduction, we can always cut maintenance) and lets make sure we pay a lot of money every three or four years to change it in order to drive hat and shirt sales.

Thanks!  I like the Dornoch members' logo as well.  For the tourists the logo is very different.  Royal Birkdale's logo is also quite good.  North Berwick's is also good.  Still, none of these touch Hockley.  Does anybody have an image of this logo?

Sean,

I agree. The RD logo on the apparel in the Pro Shop wasn't very good.  Although they did have a Ping Stand Bag that just had the logo on it that I posted.  My friend bought one during our trip, it's a great looking bag.

Although I don't have a pix of any of them, the logos of

Royal County Down ....the lyre
Sand Hills ...just so simple with a slanted SH
Roaring Fork Club ...a golfer's backswing morphing into a
                           flycast

Royal Melbourne ...a simple royal wing & crest

PS...Shivas...How does the Friars Head logo look like the scottish broom of Merion????? What kind of mid-winter drugs have you got out there? Can I get some?

Surprised no one posted this link:

Lots of logos on balls. Someone posted it awhile back - I forgot who but I did remember to bookmark the page.

I'm partial to Fishers and Baltusrol. Most of the overseas ones are pretty cool as well.

Did they remove the love grass on the Merion logo a few years back, and then did it make a comeback? ;D

J

I was lucky to find a head cover with the proper logo.  I had just lost one and the pro offered the one I bought.  This is part of an interesting story because as I was buying the cover, M. Jordan walked in with a load of people.  They were clearing the shelves.  M.J. just wanted a bottle of water.  He didn't have Sterling so his caddy footed the bill.  I am sure the caddy was generously rewarded after the round.

Concur.  And on the course it also uses the cool dual flags Friar's Head has latched on to.... doesn't it?

For my friend Wayne:

Where is the line between "monogram" and "logo"?  ;)

-Hudson National (Faz) for JakaB
-Rolling Green (Flynn) for Wayne and Mayday
-Huntsville (Rees) for Mucci
-Lehigh (Flynn) for Mark Fine and me
-Toronto (Colt)  for Ian, Rob, Ben, Mark and Paul
-Skokie for His Royal Shivas

Friar's Head looks like it came from the yacht club. Used at sea the signal flags would mean:

Top flag: "I'm disabled communicate with me"

Bottom flag: "I have a pilot on board" (meaning harbor pilot)

Does the flag pattern mean anything to Friar's Head?

Bill:  I know as much about nautical flags as I do about Lithuanian poets (meaning, nothing), but I do recall others here explaining that in some form of flag usage, the top flag was a F and the bottom was an H.  Does that ring any bells?

Huck,

I'm surprised you haven't read the works of the Lithuanian poets...Mercelijus Martinaitis or Jonas Aistas.  :o

That's okay, my Grandfather's ancestors were Lithuanian, and I've never even heard of a Lithuanian poet until my "Google" search a minute ago. ;D

Absolutely classic... I am dying.   ;D ;D ;D
And this also proves that google can find one ANYTHING.

BTW, Sarunas Marciolonus and Arvidas Sabonis (sp?) were damn fine basketball players.  Long live Lithuania!!!

And Bill, thanks for finding that.  I get a lot of things wrong in my recollections but I had to figure I had some part of that correct.

I like Saucon Valley's--simple, yet understated.

I can't seem to copy it, so check out the following link:

www.sauconvalleycc.org

From what I have heard, course information (with some photos) will be included at some point this year after they work out some unfortunate employment litigation.
