Amelia Island in February

Any advice on courses to play in and around Amelia Island in early Feb?

We are going to try to avoid playing in Jacksonville until after SBXXXIX.  I do have that Monday as a travel day.

Thanks for the advice!

I tend to think the Long Point Course is overrated, and every time I play there the greens are slow. The better course at the Plantation is the Oyster Marsh 9 paired with the Oceanside 9. The other 9 is pretty good too.

North Hampton by the Palmer Co. is interesting. Alot of earth moving, but its sort of rustic. More Dye like than Jonesian.

Laurel Island Links by the DL3 group is pretty good, about 40 minutes north at Kingsland. Osprey Cove is up by Kingsland as well.

Tom Paul is high on Fernandina Muni.

In checking, I see there are now 9 more at the Plantation, and they now have an 18 hole Ocean Links course. I can see on the layout where the new holes were added, and the 18th appears a serious compromise. I would say the best 18 is what they are calling Oak Marsh.

Also, the Ritz course is marginal at best.

I like the NorthHampton course as well.  Not typical Palmer, but I think the best greens in the section.  Osprey Cove in south georgia is solid as well.  It is a McCumber that sits in a housing development, but usually in good shape and they just did a 4million dollar facelift last year.
