Adam,
Your membership should be a good source, too, plus provide access. A good starting place book is Donald Steel's "Classic Golf Links of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland". There are at least eight copies for $20-40 on Barnes and Nobles website, Out of print section. Great routing maps, photos. http://search.barnesandnoble.com/OopBooks/OopResults.asp?fromOOPSearchPage=Y&userid=um2kZWJAcN&title=&author=donald+steel&price=ALL&format=ALL&SearchBooks.x=36&SearchBooks.y=14

Everyone has had good input, but I'd have to go with the greater Liverpool area, which includes courses in Wales, inland to Alwoodley and north to Lytham or even Silloth.

If you head to Hunstanton/Brancaster make sure Royal Worlington and Newmarket is included.
