Would I be less "shadowy" if I sent private "i will be in town can I golf at your club" IM's?

Yes.

You would also be less shadowy if you were a real person instead of a virtual online persona created to promote Republican government and rant against access mongering.

Mr. Moore

Please find the thread where I have been the person that injected politics.  I have just responded to some of the world-class moaners we have on this site.  If you are able to find the thread, I will leave this site forever or even host an outing at one of my clubs for all the access seekers.

Pat Mucci was very upset with your questioning if him concerning his outing at his club.  Did you ever apologize, must have been a private IM.

I am thankful for a few things.....

Thankful for not being an elitist, thankful for being tolerant of others opinions, thankful for having the guts to admit it when I am wrong and the decency to apologize, thankful for not bragging about all the golf courses I have access to, thankful for not bashing people I do not know because they have different opinions than I, thankful for not trying to insult anyone I disagree with, and thankful that I don't have to take shots from anyone in a golf match.

Sincerely,

Jeff "A World Class Moaner" Fortson

P.S.:  Hamilton, do you realize it's Thanksgiving and you are spending it arguing?

Lighten up.  Your white collar must have too much starch in it.

Mr. Forston

It would be nice if you would applied your principals to your rantings about the President of the USA.   It seems you have insulted him because you disagree with him and you have bashed him because he has a different opinion.  And again, it was your post election unsolicited  rant that I originally answered.

I too am thankful that you are not an eliteist, of course there are a groups of people in certain parts of our  country that think other parts of the country contain people that are not too smart based on how they choose to vote or how they may practice their faith.  Is that eliteist?

And I'm thankful that GCA.com has evolved to the point where not only do architects have butt-boys, but some of the posters as well.

Is this requiring a confession by those of us...I mean, some who are looked upon as being butt-boys? ;D

Clarification needed:  what's a "butt-boy"?  It doesn't sound like it is a very good thing to be.

I am thankful for another thing- that most people, really, a very large majority, are more than happy to help others gain access to some of the best courses.  On a site focused on the discussion of gca, only study AND experience can elevate our understanding of the subject matter.  How often do I see a poster asking another if he has seen the course?

Unlike in the UK, it is an unfortunate reality that to gain access to courses here, one has to have an extensive network, or belong to one of the 20 or so hallowed clubs.  Given that membership to these are often a matter of legacy and/or being in the right occupation at the right time, without nice folks as we find on this site, many of us wouldn't get beyond our local munis.

In any event, to those who have helped me to become more knowledgeable of gca by assisting me in gaining access to some of its best works, I am extremely thankful.  Hopefully, I will be able to do the same for others in the future.

Hamilton,

First, my last name is Fortson not Forston.

Second, people can vote for whomever they choose.

Third, I share the same faith as those you seek to defend.

Fourth, just because I share the same faith doesn't mean I think I should shove my values on sexual orientation and rights down someone else's throat (no pun intended).

Fifth, I don't recall ever bashing the President as a human being.  However, I do question his judgement, policies, and agenda.

Sixth, I happen to debate about a topic if I get involved in a discussion, even heated ones.  You debated about nothing on the VOTE thread.  You simply wrote something to the extent of, "Fortson, it is nice to see you are still a nasty, little man.", which I IMed you and told you I was neither little or nasty.  Also, I did not appreciate your blasting me when nothing I wrote about had anything to do with you,  nor was anything ever directed at you personally.

Seventh, I never ranted about the President, I simply stated my opinion on the election.  You don't have to like it.  If everyone thought like you this country would not be great.  How come I get the "unsolicited rant" label when all the Hawksish GOP supporters were spewing right-wing rhetoric left and right?  Just because I chose to state something that goes against what the other posters were saying doesn't make my post any less important or unwarranted.

Eighth, I love this quote...

"I too am thankful that you are not an eliteist, of course there are a groups of people in certain parts of our  country that think other parts of the country contain people that are not too smart based on how they choose to vote or how they may practice their faith.  Is that eliteist?"

My answer is, elitist..... maybe.  Maybe that is elitist if those people think others are not smart because they voted different.  I'll agree somewhat with that part of your statement.  However, can't those people you seek to defend be called elitist for voting to not let two people marry just because their sexual orientation scares them?  You defend people using the term elitist and then choose to not look at those people's stances on issues themselves.  That is rather ignorant.  I could go in circles for days on how we are all elitist jerks and how one side is smart and the other isn't.  Unfortunately, it doesn't solve anything.  Neither does name calling.

I leave you with this...

How many relatives do you have in the line of fire in Iraq?  How many relatives did you have in the Fallujah offensive?
I can name two in my family.  I can also name family in the theatre of war serving in the Navy and Air force.

How much is your family sacrificing this Thanksgiving for our country?  I hope you don't have to live with the day to day stress my family does wondering if my nephew or cousin are going to come home in a bodybag.

I truly am thankful for their sacrifice.  I mean, when it comes right down to it, they are the ones fighting this questionable war for the man you obviously voted for.  I will always respect their courage and their willingness to sacrifice themselves for me, you and every other American.  I just believe we should only ask them to make that sacrifice when absolutely necessary, not use them as a premptive, nation-building strike force.

Happy Thanksgiving Hamilton.

I'm thankful for the Cuscowilla outing, the French Creek outing, the people who attended my little mini-outing here at Beechtree and all the people I have met through GCA.  What a great year of meeting new people, can't wait to see what the new year brings.
