If so, I think I just heard you volunteer to call them and ask them why they messed up their famous bunkers on #8 (and perhaps the rest of the course) and what they plan to do about it! Tell them GOLFCLUBATLAS.com is watching them like a hawk and waiting for an answer but that GOLFCLUBATLAS.com isn't going to wait much longer before all hell breaks loose!

Sorry for the delay but I have the requested information.

The bunker rebuilds including the 8th, were carried out "in house" by the previous superintendent. That would explain the ease of maintenance influence. No designer was employed for this operation.

Recently at a greenkeepers get together, the secretary of SGH made a speech where he stated his clubs intention to refurbish all of the bunkers and enquired to his audience if anyone was aware of architects with intimate knowledge of H S Colt bunkering.

It would therefore appear that the clubs honourable intentions are to faithfully replicate the original bunkering and they are looking for some help.

Nice job Marc.

I have plenty of info on Colt's philisophy and vintage pics, so it wouldn't be hard to be accurate.  

As for the architect?  I'm sure that some of the architects that frequent this site could do the job well enough.  In the UK, the bunker work I've seen by Steel, on Colt's courses, is poor.  Hawtree did a nice job at Whittington Heath but the bunkers are simpler there.
