What Course is this? (link inside)
« on: November 24, 2004, 10:45:21 AM »
I found this link in the Pebble Beach Course Profile.  It is a photographer who was taken some great pics of most of the monterry peninsula courses as well as some other great california/US courses.
He has an ID challenge and I can't figure out what hole this could be.  If you can figure it out, the location and who the headpro is (www.golfcourse.com) you get a free picture from him.

You can check out the hole here

If nothing else, check out the cypress pics :o

I could be way off, but to me, it looked like a dye design, i checked the TPC courses, but found nothing.

Which bothers you more on courses like this.....perfectly round tees, or perfectly round (or symmetric) bunkers?  Couldn't they at least cut the grass in swiggly lines? ;)

Brian, I agree, the tees look very out of place.

More importantly, how do they get their rough to grow purple??

Wow, didn't even see that.  This must be a course around London, gotta love the heath!

They allow holes like this in England?

Jim Engh's name jumped out at me after seeing this photo. Although slightly different in orientation, the hole design looks very similar to the 7th at Hawktree (which I remember reading was a sort of template hole that Engh used on all his courses).

#5 at Black Rock. Jim Engh is pretty formulaic.

Just a useless piece of data but most grasses when going to "seed" (the seed pods have developed) look purplish when viewed from afar.  If you ever visit the seed growers in Oregon and drive by a field, you will see the purple haze that Jimi Hendrix made famous ...

I'd have to go with Jim Engh as well. Looks like his trademark " pleasure bunkers".....because they are "ribbed, for his and her...."

I could be wrong, though....
