help re Philmont

I have an interest in learning more about Willie Park. Does the course at Philmont display his routing acumen or his highly creative green complexes ? Is the routing or collection of
holes equal to the Fynn course. thanks

No, Philmont's little Park South course is much more mundane and much less architecturally sophisticated than Flynn's Philmont counterpart. There're a few greens on the South couse though that are really canted requiring that green speeds be watched carefully or they become virtually unplayable.

agreed.  i played both philmont courses during a practice session for the Philadelphia amateur last year.  The North (flynn) is a masterwork.  This course is extremely difficult when prepped right.  The greens have severe slopes and the course has a lot of elevation changes.  All in all a very demanding course and a great venue for competitions.  The South has some nice elevation but it is the non-competitive venue of the two, more of the eveyday members will play that course...wille park has some nice courses that he designed though...

Challenging greens appear to have been his focus at Woodway C.C. in Darien, CT.

The South Course by Park, although less demanding than Flynn's North, is still difficult to score on. The greens are smaller but very tricky even though there is less undulation than the North.
