This site has made a career out of averaging the different inconsistent lists out there...some nice pics of courses too.

Here's the Administrator explaining the process:

"After a frantic weekend, we’ve re-sequenced the entire Top 100 website. We’ve blended the latest Golf Monthly and Golf World rankings along with the latest Golf Magazine and Golf Digest world rankings. Two new courses have appeared, courtesy of Golf Monthly: Rosapenna’s new Sandy Hills course and the Donald Steel redesign of the old Arran course at Turnberry...the Kintyre. We’ve got two new courses in our Top 100, courtesy of Golf Digest: the wonderful Carne and the amazing Pyle & Kenfig with its truly stunning greens.

We also have a new No.1 and it’s the oldest and most famous course on the planet...congratulations to St Andrews (Old).  Unbelievably, only two courses have remained in the same position…Carnoustie (Championship) 8th, and Portmarnock (Old) 11th. Every other course (over 250) has changed position. Here’s a summary of the highest climbers and biggest fallers:

 Top 20 Highest Climbers
K Club (South Course) – Up 130 places
The Grove – Up 121
St Andrews Bay (Devlin) – Up 111
Doonbeg – Up 89
West Hill – Up 88
Bearwood Lakes – Up 85
Luffenham Heath – Up 84
Saunton (West) – Up 79
Walton Heath (New) – Up 72
St Pierre (Old) – Up 70
Pyle & Kenfig – Up 66
Carne – Up 65
Gleneagles (Queen’s) – Up 61
Woburn (Marquess) – Up 60
Headfort (New) – Up 60
Machrie – Up 59
Woburn (Duchess) – Up 58
Southerdown – Up 58
Castletown – Up 57
Gleneagles (PGA Centenary) – Up 57

Top 10 Biggest Fallers
East Sussex National (West) – Down 82 places
Royal Dublin – Down 64
Murcar – Down 58
East Sussex National (East) – Down 56
St Mellion (Nicklaus) – Down 56
Portstewart (Strand) – Down 52s
Slaley Hall (Hunting) – Down 46
Stoke Park – Down 45
Hankley Common – Down 45
Oxfordshire – Down 44

We do get a little sad when we see some of our favourite courses slipping down the rankings and we do get frustrated that some courses never seem to get into either Golf World or Golf Monthly’s rankings. But the real beauty of the Top 100 website is that no course will disappear. We’ll keep them all in the limelight.

Our next step is to develop our own Top 100…or rather your own Top 100. This list will be based on our golf ball rating system and your reviews will be instrumental in putting your favourite courses into the Top 100. We’ve already got hundreds of your reviews posted on the website, but we still need a few more. Please keep them coming."
