RTJ Trail

We are headed to Alabama this weekend to take on some of the Robert Trent Jones Trail.  Hopefully, there'll be a slew of pictures to post.
We'll be playing in Birmingham, Auburn and Plattville (Montgomery).
Any suggestions?

Enjoy the courses at Auburn, they are the best on the trail.  Avoid the "Judge" like the plague, the worst on the trail.

None of the courses are walkable which is too bad considering the time of year you're coming down.

We just got back Sunday. We played both courses at Auburn, the Judge twice (bumped from the Senator in the afternoon) and both courses at Birmingham.  We also played some of the par 3 course in Birmingham--good fun!
I do enjoy walking, but 36 a day on those courses would have been absolutely brutal.
Ditto your assessment on the Judge--I was under the impression it was the crown jewel of the Trail, but we enjoyed other courses more.  We very much liked the Lake and the Links at Auburn; interesting holes and interesting greens.  A second/third round on each would have been nice after figuring out where you are going, but, well, these trips are always too short.
One negative was how soft the courses were. After all the storms, I am sure it was unavoidable, and it was not as bad as I had feared. But I suspect many of the holes, and especially the greens with the pronounced slopes, play so much more fun when the are fast and hard.  It was not hard to see numerous places where hills and slopes and swales could have been used to funnel the ball around the green, but those options were not really available as soft as everything was.

The three nines at Greenville are excellent and probably the most picturesque on the Trail, in my view.  I would skip the Birmingham courses (though if you play there, the Ridge course is superior to the Valley) and either play at the Greenville or Gadsden/ Anniston course (Silver Lakes).  (Still, maybe that's just me; I have friends from Chicago who come down once a year, and no matter where else they go, they always insist on playing the Ridge.)  Another option is Limestone Springs (Jerry Pate), about 30 miles north of Bham; a number of excellent holes and lovely views, esp. the back nine.

Have a great time!

Ditto on greenville - 2 of those - sherling and canyon - are tops of the trail in my book.
