Alex,

mingaygolf.com will be up and running within the next few months. It's under construction.

The website will be dedicated to golf course architecture (not just a promotion of Rod Whitman and I as golf course architects). It's planned to feature a regularly updated commentary section, an archive of selected writings I've contributed to books and magazines, a detailed section on the design and construction of Blackhawk Golf Club, etc.

Again, look for it in a month or so...

www.golfobserver.com can have some value when it iffers pdf's of old American Golfer stories.

For those who are interested in course reviews that speak about different travel destinations along with detailed critiques on the architecture provided you can click to:

I am involved with providing the site with new course info / travel & architecture involved. My first posting is now up and details the golf opportunities in one of my favorite destination places in the USA -- New Mexico -- The Land of Enchantment.

Be interested to get any comments from those who read that article and any other future ones.

Future reviews will chronicle my many travels throughout the USA and internationally.

I like the idea of a 1-10 scale but the one I'm using at bunkershot.com might be in the minds of others a bit less discerning than what Tom Doak states in "Confidential Guide."

I guess some people will wonder if an "8" for a Ward course is the same as an "8" on the Doak scale. It some cases they will likely be the same -- in others they may be slightly lower or even higher.

I mean there are plenty of people who have opined on Black Mesa and don't see the same level of greatness that I see. I've played the course a few times and frankly I believe it's right up there with the likes of Pacific Dunes. Unfortunately, many people have not played Black Mesa and others are simply adding points to Pac Dunes because of the closeness of the Pacific and the fan base that Tom has created through his work. I don't doubt for a NY minutes the greatness of Pac Dunes but a course like Black Mesa does hit a big time home run IMHO.

The site won't be the 'finished article' for a while, but hopefully in the interim, it will assist to open up new markets -plus strengthen existing ones - allowing me to stay in this crazy business for a bit longer.

They did Shore Gate in South Jersey, which I didn't like at first but now I understand someone "fixed" it. Does any know what happen? I read that the course is now  "user friendly."  I may not have liked the course but I hate the dumbing down of an artists vision in any medium.

Hey, I need to get some mileage out of this, the one good thing I've ever done competitively.  Whaddya think, does it raise the credibility level I give away by admitting I'm a course rater for GD?  That is, that I'm clueless but at least I can play the game?
