A Fun Day @ ?
« on: September 09, 2004, 03:11:57 PM »
Guys
I am Scottish , and yet the golf in this country sometimes even surprises myself .

This is a pic. of yours truly this afternoon , enjoying a warm septembers afternoon , at a course that we were only playing because we had never played it before .

What it turned out to be was a really fun , quirky , hilly , heathland course that had some fantastic par threes .

I will post a lot more pics in a couple of days , but meanwhile anybody want to have a guess at the course I am talking about ? .

This was one of the par threes .

Brian

Brian,

You're a brute.  Somewhere in the Borders?  Peebles?  Melrose?  Hawick?

My guess is #7 @ Pebble Beach except the ocean isn't there. Cart path is in the right place though.
Sorry not a clue.

My best guess is the same as John K's--Craigie Hill.  But, it sure doesn't look that good from the motorway......

PS--for those of you sceptics out there, the recent weather in Scotland has been just as good as Brian's picture implies, i.e. as good as it gets for golf.

The motorway runs right through the course?  At least that looks like the width of most of the roads I drove in Scotland.  Watch out Brian, a truck filling potholes might be coming!!  ...oh wait, that's Ireland ;)

Well done John K and Rich . Yes its Craigie Hill , overlooking  Perth .

Agreed Rich ,  looks nothing from the motorway , but I really enjoyed it . It certainly wouldnt be everyones cup of tea , very hilly , short , and quirky , but I thought it was fun .

Maybe I am just a sucker for views distracting my golf ? .

I will post up more of my thoughts and some pics at the weekend , as this good weather is forecasted to end .

Here is another snap of the surrounding view , the green is the 8th ,  taken from the 5th green .

Brian, since I got it right, next time I'm in Scotland, we need to have a game there!  That'll probably be next May.
