Maidstone Club - Charitable Tourney
« on: August 13, 2004, 08:24:01 AM »
I have two spots open to play at The Maidstone Club, possibly America's only true partial links.

This will be the fourth year I've had GCAers accompany me to this charitable tournament. I have had the first tee time for fifteen years and we usually drive to another course in the area to play/study for the afternoon round followed by drinks on the ocean and a prime rib dinner back at Maidstone.

Format is play your own ball, Callaway for prizes.

Date is Oct 6th

Cost is $275 plus cost of afternoon round and caddy at the other club.

Tee time is 7:30 am

Please simply post your interest in attending and I will send you a private message regarding where to send check, etc.

As someone who took Gene up on his gracious offer a few years back, I'd just say this.

If you haven't played Maidstone, run, don't walk.

Then you too, can tell Matt Ward he's full of it about Maidstone at minimum.  ;)

It's awesome.

Would some wonderful fellow please take advantage of this great opportunity.  I played with Gene at Maidstone 2 years ago and a better day of golf would be very hard to find.  Fly in if you must.  Those who have not played golf with Gene are in for a great treat for it is truly an experience to play a great links like Maidstone with someone who truly loves its greatness.

Gene,

I am very interested in your offer. It would be my first trip into that area and something I have always wanted to do. It sounds like a wonderful day.

Thanks,
Sean

A few people had sent private emails and the foursome is complete. Thank you.

I brought this one back because I'm happy to see that Gene was able to put together a nice group for the morning round at Maidstone.  It's an opportunity of a lifetime for someone to play this truly unique American links and in great company I might add.

Now I also have to ask how it is that not a soul made an inquiry as to the nature of the afternoon round.  Think about just where Maidstone is located an the logistics of a second round of golf in October. BIG MISTAKE FOLKS

Geoffrey,

I dearly wanted to grab this opportunity, but it was just a bad date for me (work related).  If it were one week later, I would have jumped on it.

Geoffrey,

I dont think any asked because I really don't think anyone needed to ask.  I think it was pretty obvious and clear that there was going to be an oppurtunity to play a fantastic golf course in the afternoon as well.  I too would have jumped at the offer if the date didnt' coincide.

Thanks for offering this Gene, maybe next year.
