Working abroad
« on: May 27, 2004, 06:40:27 AM »
There are numerous examples of British architects coming to America (and else where) to work: Park-Jr, Colt, Fowler, Simpson, MacKenzie and Alison. Why aren't there examples of American architects working abroad?

With Macdoanld's connections, you would have thought Raynor might have opportunities. Didn't Banks work in S.America. Thompson must have had a worldwide appreciation. Ross? Flynn? Emmet?

Flynn had tremendous connections as well but never once made the trip across the pond to Europe.

If were talking about the time span early in the last century I have no idea.

However if your looking for a person who seems to work over the pond recently a nod would have to go to Kyle Phillips.  With Kingsbarns, Dundonald (Southern Gailes) and one outside London called The Grove he seems to have created a real nice base of work in G.B.

In looking at his site in the past it seems he worked a number of courses while working for RTJ II.
