Anyone heard anything about Makefield Highlands golf course in Yardley, PA?  I live in the area and have driven by the site a number of times, but you can't really see much from the road...

I have heard it is due to open July 1.

July 1 is the target date. I haven't been by there in awhile. How does it look? Have you called the club?

Steve,

I'd call the club but they have not posted a phone number yet on the website.  I might end up calling the township to get more information if they do not update the site.

The course appears fairly wide open judging by the holes you can see from the road... however, I read in an article that the property has quite an elevation change at the back of the property which should provide some variety in the holes.

Never one to judge a course by pictures, but it looks to me like "A whole lotta shapin' goin' on".

Don't you love how all the modern architects now talk about what minimalists they are and how they just use the land that God gave 'em?   ::)

I'll have to stop by this summer...it's close to my daughter's house so I'm hoping I have to eat my words.

Here is an update/description from Philadelphia Golf Magazine:

"Makefield Highlands, a Rick Jacobson design, sits on 180 partially wooded acres with elevation changes of up to 100 feet. A stream on the former Pleasant Valley Farm comes into play on several holes.
A stone farm and outbuilding are being preserved, and a clubhouse is situated at the high point of the site. Practice and short-game facilities also are included.

Jacobson says the property is "truly one of the most spectacular" he has encountered. "The vistas are terrific," he says, "and the naturally rolling terrain is perfectly suited for a championship course."

The winter weather that proved difficult for construction left the opening date uncertain."

Mike - It seems as if Rick didn't do "a whole lotta shapin'" but I would agree that it is hard tell from the pictures they have posted on the site.
