Hacienda Golf Club Approves Todd Eckenrode Master Plan
« on: January 03, 2022, 07:29:22 PM »
I haven't played as many great courses as most here, but of those I have played, Hacienda (La Habra Heights, CA) is among my favorites. Saw recently on their Instagram the members approved a new master plan by Todd Eckenrode. Exciting stuff!

Todd (or anyone), care to share any info?

As someone who plays there several times a year in qualifiers and invitationals, etc., I can tell you that this is a great thing for that golf course. Oh, there will be moaners and whiners and whingers, but I saw the plans at the course, and I'm excited.

More ground possibilities. Superflous tree removal, etc.

Can't wait!

Having played Hacienda in their annual junior tournament in the 70's, mini your events in the 80's- early 2000's, and a few things in recent years, there has been a very poor evolution of the course.  The place was once among the very best in SoCal.  Tommy Naccarato is the Hacienda expert and can give a great timeline on the various miscues.  There are three Ted Robinson greens that do not fit with the others, and hopefully, Todd gets a chance to fix those.  An aside, I made my 12th hole-in-one on the 12th hole a few years ago

Great to have David/Robert's view and look forward to Tommy's.  Hacienda is a overshadowed gem IMO along with San Gabriel CC.

I sent out the Bat signal to Todd Eckenrode, so hopefully he will chime in.

I hope Hacienda's membership can be as happy post-construction as we are at Orinda.

First saw Hacienda Golf Club in 1988, fell in love with the look but saw holes that were disjointed and not consistent with other holes.

Of all of the golf courses in the L.A. basin I have never understood why this golf course gets so much love.  Don't get me wrong, its a gem I just hope it gets back to its historical roots.
