Stevo,

Dune Valley doesn't open until 2005, unless you want to see it under construction this year.

My list (one of the easiest lists to compile), in no particular order:

NGLA
Shinnethingy
Friar's Head
Sand Hills
SFGC
Pine Valley
Oakmont
ANGC
Seminole
Merion

I've actually "seen" Pine Valley, but not played it.  If "seen" means just to see and not necessarily play, then substitute Crystal Downs in for PV.

I also was just constricting the list to the U.S.

I forgot about Prairie Dunes.  Subsitute PD in my list for Seminole, and put Seminole in the alternate slot.   ::)

Brian,

Treyburn?   ???   Reaching for the stars, are we?  (I have no argument over Wilmington Muni, though.   :)

No pining for Cypress or NGLA or Shinny or....  Unless you've played them.

Good call on MPCC (Shore).

Hmmmm.... I think I take a bit of a different tack on this.  Here's my list, again in no particular order.  Dare to dream.

1. Raleigh CC
2. The Legends Club of Tennessee
3. MPCC Shore
4. Garden City GC
5. Southampton CC
6. Aberdour
7. Plum Hollow
8. Pinon Hills
9. Pensacola CC
10. Wake Forest GC
11. Gulph Mills GC

ok, I've already gone past 10 and could go to 30 if I tried hard enough.  See a theme here?   ;)

TH

ps - I have ommitted Painswick only because it is too painful to contemplate, how I can't attend that sure to be historic outing.

These are my top 10, in no particular order, of the courses I'll be playing this year for the first time:

-- North Berwick, West
-- Silloth (Will I agree with the Finegan or Doak view? It should be interesting.)
-- R. Birkdale
-- R. Lytham-St. Annes
-- R. Liverpool
-- R. St. David's
-- Pacific Dunes
-- Bandon Dunes
-- Lahinch
-- Ballybunion Old

I'd be delighted if a couple of the courses I'm playing this year, less highly regarded by most, turn out to be among my favorites. Those courses include Southerness, Seascale, S&A, and Dooks.

Mike - screw you, I am jealous as hell, even if I did see all of those last year myself.   ;D

You've never played Stevinson Ranch?  Good lord, this calls for an outing.  Let's make it happen - I NEED to get out there again myself.

Would I love to see/play places like Cypress or NGLA or Sand Hills or SFGC, sure.  But I'm not a member and don't know anyone there, so I'm trying to focus on places I have a chance of playing.  In fact, one of my goals next week is to go over to Seminole (as I have to be in FLA for a wedding) and beg the superintendant to allow me to walk the course when the mowers are out at 6am.....but I don't have any misconceptions that I'd play.

Treyburn and Hope Valley are the two places around the Triangle that I haven't seen/played and have heard nothing but good things about.  I'd love to see Silva's work at Hope Valley before they do changes at RCC.

And I feel bad saying this, but I grew up right near Plum Hollow, actually worked right near there during the summer, and never heard anything about it.....but Wigler has convinced me it's great.

Huck, you arse-kisser, you.   :-*   ;)

For anyone to have my WFGC on their Top 10 list to see....is a loon.   (Besides me, of course - it's on my top 10 every weekend, since I just want to be able to play at all  :P)

It will never be on anyone's list amongst guys on the board to see, if you're just visiting the area, because people will always want to see #2, Tobacco Road, Pine Needles, RCC, etc., as it should be.  Other than the handful of local guys I've had out there, only one non-local has dared slum it at my place while travelling through town.  If Huckaby ever sets foot on my home course, I'll play Santa Teresa next time I'm in the Bay area.   ;D

Scott:

Well... it's not arse-kissing...though I am a champion at that.   ;)  It's more meant to show that people are more important to me than courses.  Now obviously if I get to the geographic area of some of these places, I'd try to play OTHER courses as well... but... my wish list is more to see friends in their home environments.  This is also a heck of a lot more realistic than saying I want to see Augusta/Pine Valley, etc.!

And anyone who wants to lower their standards with me at Santa Teresa, well, you are welcome at any time.  Now that would be fun.  Just don't expect to get home in less than 7 hours... that's at least 5 for playing, two for "chatting" in the bar....

 ;D

Brian,

I was just funnin' with ya.  I've played Treyburn a couple of times.  It's not bad.  I really like the 18th and the fact that many members (my impression) walk.

Around the Triangle, my biggest pinings to see would be North Ridge, MacGregor Downs, and the new Hope Valley.
